Man fakes death to make sure girlfriend really loves him before proposing

A MAN has given new meaning to the phrase love you to death after he faked his own demise only to spring to life and propose to his girlfriend.

Alexey Bykov wanted to know if girlfriend Irena Kolokov really loved him before he committed to spending the rest of his life with her.

The 30-year-old, from Omsk, Russia, hired a director, stuntmen and a make-up artist to help him stage a car crash and fake his own death, the Daily Mail reports.

When Irena arrived at the pre-arranged meeting spot she discovered a scene of carnage with mangled cars and ambulances.

"Then when I saw Alexey covered in blood lying in the road a paramedic told me he was dead and I just broke down in tears," she said.

As she was crying Alexey then sat up and proposed to her.

Thankfully she said yes. The couple were married last week.

"I wanted her to realise how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me," Alexey said.

A MAN who faked his own demise only to spring to life and propose to his girlfriend nearly got the thumbs down from the love of his life.

Alexey Bykov from Omsk, Russia, hired a director, stuntmen and a make-up artist to help him stage a car crash and fake his own death, the Daily Mail reports.

When girlfriend Irena Kolokov arrived at the pre-arranged meeting spot she discovered a scene of carnage with mangled cars and ambulances.

But the stunt very nearly backfired as an irate Irena initially pushed Alexey away once he sprung to life and proposed. It took several moments for the 30-year-old to console his lady love before he then asked that all-important question.

“I was so cross I almost killed him again, but for real this time," she told The Sun newspaper.

Thankfully she said yes in the end and the couple were married last week.

Alexey said he just wanted to know if Irena really loved him before he committed to spending the rest of his life with her.

"I wanted her to realise how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me," Alexey said. "I think it worked - but I promise it’s the last time," he said.
