Man dies after drinking alcohol-based hand sanitiser

DESPERATE for a drink, he gulped down some hand sanitiser which ended up killing him.

Malaysia Nanban reported that the man from Tamil Nadu, identified only as Bernard, became ill after he drank the alcohol-based sanitiser.


This happened as the whole of India is under strict curfew to curtail the spread of Covid-19. Liquor shops in Tamil Nadu are shut down during this period.

Bernard’s family rushed him to the hospital but he died soon after.


There has been an increase in reports of people falling sick or dying after consuming illegally brewed alcoholic beverages and other liquids containing alcohol since the 21-day curfew took effect on April 1.

More than 151,000 people have been arrested in Tamil Nadu state alone for flouting lockdown rules.

Tamil Nadu police have impounded 119,286 vehicles and issued fines totaling 5,372,044 rupees (RM303,960).

Malays will have no problem if supplied with alcohol based sanitised. Just add water to dilute it.like syrup.

Sanitizer contain more than 60% alcohol. Way too concentrated.
