Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division detained a 38-year-old man at a home along Yishun Street 61 at 1.35am on Friday after receiving a call about loanshark harrassment.
The man was established to have conducted loanshark harassment by delivering a debtor note to the home. Loansharking-related paraphernalia comprising a debtor note, an ATM card, cash amounting to $2950 and a mobile phone were also found in the suspect's possession and were seized.
Police say the suspect is a debtor-turned-runner, and believes he carried out other acts of loanshark harassment in Yishun housing estate by splashing oil on debtors' front doors.
In a statement released on Friday, Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division and Assistant Commissioner of Police Hsu Sin Yun commended his officers for their quick response, vigilance and relentless efforts in the fight against loansharks.
