Man charged with theft of gold bars from pawnshop
SINGAPORE: A man has been charged with the theft of three gold bars valued at more than S$15,600 from a pawnshop.
Ang Swee Chong, 46, is accused of stealing the three 100-gramme gold bars from MoneyMax, located at Jalan Bukit Merah.
The alleged incident is said to have taken place on Tuesday at about 2.15pm.
Ang allegedly went into the pawnshop pretending to want to buy gold bars.
The staff was said to have handed over the gold bars to Ang for viewing, but he later fled with the gold bars.
The maximum penalty for the offence is a jail term of seven years and a fine. - CNA/ec
