A 56-year-old man was charged in court on Friday with making a bomb hoax call from a flat in Maude Road.

Giam Yong Hua allegedly called the police hotline on Wednesday and reported that he knew that terrorists were going to tie hand grenades to kites which would explode in Singapore.

He is said to have made a reference to the presence of a bomb at the unit.

He was remanded for psychiatric examination.
