Man caught taking upskirt video at VivoCity

A 23 year-old man who took an upskirt video of a female victim at VivoCity earlier this week was caught red-handed by a member of the public, who detained and handed him over to the Police.

On 11 Aug 2010 at about 7.00 pm, while riding the escalator up from Basement 1, Vivocity, the suspect stood behind a 24 year-old woman and placed his mobile phone under her skirt.

Unknown to the suspect, his action was spotted by 30 year-old Mr Ho, who was standing near the victim. The public-spirited Mr Ho not only alerted the victim, but also assisted to detain the suspect.

The suspect was subsequently handed over to the Police by Mr Ho.

Investigations are ongoing.

Commander of Clementi Police Division HQ, Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) of Police Melvin Yong, commended Mr Ho for his public-spiritedness and thanked him for his assistance in detaining the suspect.

If convicted, the suspect may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both.
