PALU, Indonesia - Ferdy, 26, the man who allegedly set his parents and sister on fire in Palu, Central Sulawesi, will go through a series of tests, including psychological tests and drug screenings, after being arrested by the Palu Police on Tuesday.
Wandi Sugianto, Ferdy's father and a well-known businessman in the city, died of critical burns on Wednesday, while Ferdy's mother Sherli and sister Nely are still being treated at Budi Agung Hospital.
The police assumed that Ferdy was under the influence of drugs when he committed the crime.
"We will undergo a urine test to find out whether he used drugs before he committed the crime," said Palu Police chief Adj. Comr. Ahmad Ramadhan.
Ferdy allegedly committed the crime on Tuesday at around 5 a.m. when all his family members were asleep at their home on Jl. Basuki Rahmat, apparently because his parents did not allow him to marry a shop attendant they employed. Ferdy denied the allegations.
