Fruit seller Lee Chang Feng had admitted to grievously hurting Mr Siah Wui Xiang, 18, who was kicked on the face and suffered a broken skull, at the open carpark of People's Park Centre at Havelock Square on Jan 3. He committed the offence with Kan Zhan Peng, Leong Wei Jun and Liu Wing Sing, all 20. Lee, together with the others, had also admitted to punching Mr Siah's friend, Mr Ou Wen Han, 18, and hitting him on the head with a beer bottle at about 1.20am tthat day. The attack arose over a staring incident during which Mr Siah's friend, Mr Ng Jin Kai, 18, hurled vulgarities at Lee's group who felt offended and decided to pursue them. For the most serious charge, Lee could have been jailed for up to 10 years and fined or caned. The penalty for causing hurt with the beer bottle is up to five years jail or a fine or caning or any two punishments, while causing hurt is punishable with up to two years and/or a fine of up to $5,000.
