A man asked two others at a coffee shop for a pen and punched them when they replied they did not have one. Tang Wah Hee later then assaulted a police officer.
Looking contrite in the dock on Tuesday, the burly man pleaded guilty to these offences as well as helping a loanshark runner to harass a debtor. The 47-year-old odd-job worker will be sentenced on Jan 5.
A district court heard that sports trainer Yeo Meng Seng, 55, was drinking beer with his friend Mustaffa Ali, 49, at 1am on Sept 7 at a coffee shop in Marine Drive. Tang approached them to borrow a pen. The court was not told why he needed a pen only that he became furious when Mr Yeo replied that he did not have one on him.
Tang punched him in the face, fracturing his nose. He also punched Mr Mustaffa, an odd-job worker, in the jaw.
