SINGAPORE - Police arrested a man who attempted to bribe two officers when they caught him trespassing a construction site in Cactus Road area on Sunday morning.

Officers patrolling the area at around 4.30am found a woman outside the construction site. She told them she was waiting for a friend who was inside.

The man was detained when he emerged from the site. During interrogation by two officers, he made attempts to bribe them with offer of money in return for letting him go.

Instead, he was arrested for both trespassing and attempting to bribe police officers.

Any person convicted for the offence of Wilful Trespass under Section 21 of the Miscellaneous Offences (Public Order and Nuisance) Act, Chapter 184, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $1000.

The Corrupt Practices Investigations Bureau (CPIB) is investigating the suspect for attempting to bribe the police officers.

Assistant Commissioner Keok Tong San, Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, commended the two officers for their integrity in rejecting the bribes.
