SINGAPORE - A 44-year-old man believed to be involved in a series of theft from vehicle was arrested by the police.

Police received notification on March 15, at around 7.30am, that a man's cash card was stolen from the In-Vehicle Unit (IU) of his automobile which was parked at Jelapang Road.

After conducting extensive ground enquiries, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the suspect. The 44-year-old man was subsequently arrested at a shopping mall along Jurong West Street 75.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have committed a series of theft from vehicle in Jurong West, Bukit Panjang, Woodlands and Bedok estates, where cash cards were stolen from inside vehicles that were left unsecured.

He will be charged in court on April 15 for the offence of theft. If convicted, he will face a jail term up to three years, or a fine, or both.
