SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 38-year-old male for suspected involvement in a series of theft from vehicles committed in the vicinity of Clementi area.

Police received several reports between April 25 and June 15 lodged by vehicle owners that their cash cards, wallets and handphones kept in their vehicles were stolen.

Following investigations, the police managed to establish the identity of the suspect.

He was subsequently arrested on Aug 2.

The suspect will be charged in Court on Aug 4 for an offence of Theft from Vehicle. If convicted, he faces a jail term which may extend up to 3 years, be fined, or both.

The police would like to advise vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

a) Secure windows and doors of vehicle at all times.

b) Do not leave valuables such as laptop, mobile phone, cash cards, briefcase or handbag unattended or exposed inside the vehicle even for a short while.

c) Remove cash card from the In-Vehicle Unit (IU).
