SINGAPORE : Police have arrested a 49-year-old man who is believed to be responsible for a spate of cheating involving pawning of fake gold jewellery.
In these cases, the suspect would visit the pawnshops and con the victims into accepting fake gold jewellery as genuine in return for cash.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday at Ubi Ave 3.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect could have been involved in at least seven cases of cheating islandwide.
Police said investigations are on-going and the suspect has been released on bail.
Cheating carries a punishment of imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine.
