A woman was found murdered yesterday at Jurong East MRT. The deceased, Wu Ah Mei, 62, was a cleaner working at the MRT station.

Wu was discovered at 2.35pm at the ground floor lift of the MRT station. She is believed to have been stabbed in her heart and was found comatose after losing a lot of blood. She died from her injuries later at the National University Hospital (NUH). It is believed that she was attacked by her colleague, a 55-year-old man nicknamed "Tiger".

Colleagues of the deceased say that Wu had quarreled with "Tiger" several times in the week before she was killed. "Tiger" is known to be a bad tempered man who is easily agitated. Wu and "Tiger" had been on bad terms after Wu criticised him for doing a poor job. A colleague described one run-in that took place a week ago.

"Tiger got very angry with her after she criticised him. He looked like he was going to hit Wu and I had to hold him back while I got Wu to leave," said the colleague.

"Tiger", a former drug addict, was released from prison last year. He is known to be mentally unstable and was on medication. After the murder, he is said to have contacted his flatmate and good friend Mr Chen, 70, to have lunch together.

The two met at Buona Vista MRT station, where "Tiger" borrowed $15 from Mr Chen for lunch. Mr Chen told reporters that at the time, he did not know what "Tiger" had done.

The two parted ways after lunch and "Tiger" was said to have returned home to his Marsiling flat. When Mr Chen returned to the flat at 6pm, he found many police officers at the house and saw Tiger being handcuffed and taken away.

Police have classified the case as murder, and investigations are ongoing.
