Man arrested for impersonating another to enter casino

SINGAPORE: A 43-year-old Singaporean man, who is excluded by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) from entering the two casinos here, was arrested by Police for entering the casino at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) by impersonating the identity of another person.
On 12 November 2011, the suspect was detained by RWS security officers after he was found using another person's driving licence to enter the casino. The man was subsequently arrested by Police.
Investigations subsequently revealed that a colleague had handed his driving licence to the suspect for administrative matters. The suspect, however, used the driving licence without the colleague's knowledge to enter the casino on three occasions.
The suspect will be charged in Court on Thursday for the offences of Cheating by Personation and Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT).
If convicted for the offence of Cheating By Personation, the man can be jailed for up to five years, or be fined, or both.
For the offence of CBT, if convicted, he can be jailed up to seven years, or be fined, or both.
For the offence of failure to pay the entry levy, if convicted, he can be fined up to S$1,000/-, in addition to the amount of the entry levy that was not paid.
Police said they will not hesitate to take stern action against identity thieves and those who attempt to enter the casinos by impersonation or without payment of the levy.
