SINGAPORE - A 26-year-old man has been arrested for suspect involvement in a case of attempted armed robbery on June 10.

The victim was walking along Mount Emily Road when the suspect rode his motorcycle up to her.

He then pointed a sharp object at her and demanded for her valuables, but lost his balance in the process.

The victim seized the opportunity and ran away to seek help, while the suspect fled on his motorcycle, according to the media statement from the police.

After the report was lodged, officers from Tanglin Police Division responded to the scene.

The victim could not recall the motorcycle's registration number, but the police found an object which is believed to be the foot-rest of the automobile. The object was seized as a case exhibit.

The officers conducted ground investigations over the next few days and managed to identify the suspect.

He was discovered to have left Singapore but was arrested on June 16, at Woodlands Immigration Checkpoint, when he tried to re-enter Singapore. The motorcycle and the sharp object were also seized as case exhibits.

He will appear in count on June 17 for the offence of Attempted Armed Robbery. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to seven years, and at least 18 strokes of the cane.
