The garang-guni man who was accused of intimidating Jalan Besar GRC MP Ms Denise Phua told the court yesterday that he thought the old man who torched a MP was a “hero”!
The accused said after reading the news about the MP being burnt, he was shaking his head and laughing at the same time. He did not understand why that man was so brave to commit a crime, but also felt he was brave to do it and is a “hero”.
He said Singapore is a small country and there is nowhere to hide if one commits a crime. Why is there still somebody brave enough to break the law? He was feeling frustrated at that time and picked up the phone to call the Prime Minister to complain about those MPs who refused to help him.
The accused Ng Kim Ngweng (49 years old) worked as a tour guide for 15 years and received a decent pay. However, due to his low academic qualifications, he lost his job after the government introduce a ruling requiring tour guides to have certificates in order to work.
