Clearly, compact and even remotely operated camera phones and digital cameras have emboldened voyeurs to openly commit their acts in busy areas, with staircases and moving escalators the favoured "shooting" locations.

SINGAPORE - A male suspect, aged 54, has been arrested for allegedly taking upskirt photos of a woman at a MRT station.
Police received a report from a woman, 39, at about 5.50am Wednesday morning, claiming that she had noticed a man placing his mobile device under skirt as she was riding up the escalator at Lakeside MRT station.
Upon receiving the call, officers from Jurong Police Divison went to the scene to investigate and found the suspect in possession of five pieces of women's undergarments. When questioned, the man was not able to account for the items, according to a statement to the media today.
Police also said they found several photographs taken in upward angles of women's undergarments, including those belonging to the complainant.
Investigations against the suspect are still ongoing.
If convicted of fraudulent possession of property, he faces a jail term of up to one year, or a fine not exceeding $3,000 or both. The punishment for insulting the modesty of a womanis a jail term of up to one year, or a fine, or both.
