Man, 28, arrested for suspected molest

Police arrested a 28-year-old man believed to have outraged the modesty of a female victim in the vicinity of Toh Guan Road.
On Feb 21, 2013 at about 1.55 pm, Police were notified of the case which happened at about 11.45 am.
Officers from Clementi Police Division immediately responded to the incident and conducted a search in the neighborhood. At about 2.45 pm the same day, the officers spotted a man befitting the description of the alleged culprit.
He was detained and thereafter placed under arrest.
The suspect will be charged in Court on Feb 23, 2013 for the offence of Outrage of Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of up to 2 years. He will also face caning.
Commander of Clementi Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Melvin Yong, advised members of public, in particular, lone females, to be vigilant of their surroundings.
They should adopt the following measures in the event that they encounter similar unfortunate situations with a molester:
Try to stay composed
Take note of the description, attire or any significant features of the perpetuator as much as possible
Take note of the direction and mode of escape by the perpetuator; and
Call the Police as soon as it is safe to do so
