STOMPer Serene said that this woman swept her handbag over the STOMPer's table and caused her 3-month-old handphone to chip, but she refused to apologise for damaging it.
In an email to STOMP yesterday (Jan 19), the STOMPer recounted the incident which occurred at 1:30pm at Joo Seng Teochew Porridge along Cheong Chin Nam Road.
“I was having my lunch there when suddenly this lady came into the shop and walked past my table with her big bag and with a swing, she swept my handphone (placed at the edge of the table) onto the floor.
“She looked back and uttered a ‘no-feeling sorry’ and continued with her ordering.
“I immediately checked my handphone since it fell from the table and found that my camera lens had chipped, given the impact that it was put through when it fell flat on the hard-tiled floor!
“I walked up to the lady and told her that.
“She said, ‘Did I do it? Why did you put your handphone at the edge? Was there any witness?'
“I was so furious upon her statement and demanded for her mobile number.
“She did not want to reveal her number and even commented that she is a regular patron at this shop. If needed, then look for her there.
“I ignored her and went to the shop assistant to check whether they have witness the incident.
“But workers being workers, they just shrugged and say they did not see.
“Luckily there was a CCTV capturing the incident, however the boss was not around so I could not view it.
“I was so furious that I knew I had to do justice for my handphone.
“I waited for her to her car so that I could get her address via LTA.”
