Quarrel led to death
By Teh Joo Lin
A YOUNG cleaner and an elderly security officer at Manhattan House apparently hurled insults at each other before the argument turned physical last Friday.
The 19-year-old cleaner is believed to have shoved the security officer, 75-year-old Seoh Toh Chong, who hit his head on the floor after falling backwards.
Mr Seoh was taken to the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where he died on Saturday afternoon.
The cleaner has since been arrested on suspicion of murder, police said on Sunday.
The drama unfolded in Manhattan House, an office building at Chin Swee Road in the Outram area, last Friday at about 7.40pm.
Both Mr Seoh and the cleaner, a Malaysian, worked in the same building. It is believed that an argument broke out between the two after they started calling each other names, although it is not known where the taunting started.
