Malaysian charged in one of Australia's biggest drug busts
SYDNEY: A Malaysian man has appeared in court on drug charges after police found 90kg of crystal meth in his home, the seventh-largest "ice" haul in Australian history.
Kok Loong Wong appeared in a Sydney court Wednesday, charged with possessing the drug and dealing in the proceeds of crime. He was not granted bail and will appear in court again on Feb 16.
Police said the drug would have netted an estimated AUS$14.4mil (RM44.8mil) on the street.
Police said 35-year-old Wong was a "significant player" in a distribution network. They found the drugs after detaining Wong and finding cash and ice inside mobile phone boxes he was carrying.
A search of his home led to the stash of drugs inside four suitcases. - AP
