Ahmad Mohamad Isa, 110, who told Kosmo! that he was looking for a wife, had his wish come true when an 82-year-old woman responded to his wish.

Ahmad, who has 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, told the Malay-language tabloid earlier this week that he wanted company and a wife to take care of him.

The report grabbed the attention of Sanah Ahmad, a widow of 30 years and mother of nine, who said she was willing to do so and had asked her children to contact Ahmad's family to make arrangements.

'It doesn't matter who she is, as long as she can cook for me,' Ahmad told the paper on Sunday, saying he was happy and surprised at the news while his daughter would discuss the matter with Sanah's family.

'It is lonely to live alone and I am afraid to sleep alone. If I have a wife she can take care of me,' the centenarian, who has five previous marriages and suffers mild hearing and vision problems, said in an earlier interview.

Four of his wives have died and he divorced the fifth. Sanah said she was attracted to Ahmad as he bears a striking resemblance to her late husband and both men shared the same name.

Ahmad Mohamad Isa, who has 20 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, told Malay-language newspaper Utusan Malaysia earlier this week that he wanted company and a wife to take care of him.

Second proposal for centenarian

A SECOND elderly woman has expressed interest in marrying a 110-year-old man from Kedah. “If he accepts me, I’m ready to live with him in Kedah,” Zainab Salleh, 70, told Kosmo!

Zainab, who is from Kemaman, Terengganu, has no qualms about marrying Ahmad Md Isa who he did not want to leave his hometown Kedah after marriage.

The mother of eight children, aged between 30 and 53, said marrying Ahmad would fill a void in her life after her husband passed away 15 years ago, Kosmo! reported yesterday.

Zainab is aware that she is in competition for Ahmad’s heart from Sanah Ahmad, 82, from Kuala Lumpur. “I don’t mind and I believe in fate,” Zainab said.

Sanah had expressed her willingness to tie the knot with Ahmad and had told Kosmo! last week that he looked like her late husband.

Zainab said she lived alone – all her children have their own families and live elsewhere.

She said previously she had befriended a man from Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, but their plan to marry did not take off, although her children consented to it.

Zainab said her desire to remarry was kindled after one of her children related to her about Ahmad’s desire to marry, also highlighted by Kosmo! earlier.

“I hope they (the children) can accept this,” she said.
