Malaysian casanova conman arrested in India
A MALAYSIAN staying in Kasimedu village in Puthucherry was arrested by Indian police in Chennai on charges that he had married and cheated at least four women, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Police said the 31-year-old man, known as Ameer, claimed to be a producer of short films in Malaysia and had got to know his victims through online social networking sites.
He would marry women, live with them for a few days and then disappear with their money and jewellery.
Police said Ameer had visitedChennai last year and posing as a rich man, befriended a woman named Mumtaj through a popular social networking site.
He married her and lived with her for a few days before absconding with cash and jewellery, claiming that he had a shooting schedule in Australia.
Based on her report, police managed to track Ameer’s friend who convinced him to return to Chennai. He was arrested when he arrived in the country.
Police said their investigations revealed that Ameer had married three other women including one named Kathija, who had also lodged a report
