KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian man has been detained recently for allegedly entering Australia with more than 900 photographs and videos of child porn, a report said.
Australian daily, The Age said that the 27-year-old man was arrested upon arrival at Melbourne International Airport from Kuala Lumpur on March 22.
It stated that the Australian Border Force officers found more than 900 images and videos of child porn on his laptop and mobile phone during a search.
The man was charged with importing child exploitation material by the Melbourne magistrate's court on March 23. The report said he is being remanded until June 29.
The daily quoted ABF Commander Investigations Mark Antill as saying that protecting the community from harm was the department's highest priority.
“Children are harmed by those who manufacture this abhorrent material, and people who consume child exploitation material provide the market that fuels this vile trade.” he said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
