Malaysia New Public Holiday?

KUALA LUMPUR: Workers who work on Malaysia Day (today) are entitled to a paid holiday, said Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam.

This was provided for under Section 60D(1)(b) of the Employ_ment Act, he told Bernama.

Bernama received calls from private companies to clarify whether the Malaysia Day public holiday also involved the private sector.

The Government has declared Sept 16 as Malaysia Day and a national public holiday, starting this year. — Bernama
