Malaysia’s Mahathir proud Malaysia-born Australian is Canberra’s foreign minister

Former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, who famously said in 2004 that Australia could not join an East Asian diplomatic group because “they are Europeans, they cannot be Asians”, says he is proud a Malaysia-born Australian is the nation’s foreign minister and that all nations will be multiracial “because of ease of travel and porous borders”.

The veteran politician, 96, who made the statement to Reuters in an email late on Friday, had also predicted in a 2019 newspaper interview that migration meant Australia would in future “be more Asian than European”.

His latest comments came in the same week Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong visited the Malaysian city where she was born and said her story showed Australia was part of Asia, as new data showed 51.5 per cent of Australians had an immigrant parent or were born overseas.

China, Britain, India, New Zealand and the Philippines were the biggest source nations for the almost one-third of Australian residents who were born overseas, a census showed, with Asian countries combined a bigger source than Britain and New Zealand.

Wong visited Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Sabah state, where she lived for eight years as a child before moving to Australia, as part of an official visit to Malaysia.

“One in two Australians are either born overseas or have parents who were born overseas so this is a very Australian experience,” she told reporters.

“We are a multicultural and diverse nation ... It is one of the strengths of who Australia is and we should tell that story in the region more,” said Wong.

She recalled that her grandmother, of Hakka Chinese descent, raised her children alone in Sabah after most of the family died in World War Two.

If you want to know which nations are weak, at least from Dr M's perspective, just look at which country he praises and tries to befriend with.

Dr M has always had a Malay persecution complex since his younger days. You can see that clearly in his earlier work like The Malay Dilemma and also traces of it in his later autobiography A Doctor in the House. As a result of this fear of Malays being assimilated or controlled by foreign powers, he would always act aggressively towards any powerful entity and try to ally with weaklings to push back against perceived influence.

During his first stint as PM, he was virulently against Malaysian Chinese, US, Israel, Soviet Union and somewhat cautious against Japan while actively promoting the so called third rail of power in Non-Aligned Nations (essentially a grouping of weak nations that were powerless in global affairs but want to stay out of the cold war). Though he was a pragmatic leader who tolerated and cooperated with powerful entities as and when needed, there would always be some irrational emotional outbursts the moment he feels that Malays are being "threatened".

By the time his second stint came along, the target of hostility had changed to mainly US and China as the G2 became the dominants force in global affairs. He then got back to his usual strategy of trying to ally with weaklings that will not threaten Malays in order to counter the G2. Made a big show on his Japan tour constantly singing praises of how Malays should learn from Japanese, Japan helped Malaysia greatly etc. This is a clear sign of Japanese weakness, not strength.

Now that he's out of office, he still consistently tries to be positive about Japan and now Australia not because he really likes these countries, but because they are weak and from his POV cannot exert power over Malay / Malaysia. He's scared of China and US because the former is world #2 and could threaten Malaysia / Malay interest by rallying the Malaysian Chinese diaspora while the latter is world #1 and very anti-Muslim pro Jews.

Faggots always swell with pride whenever one of their kind gets into a position of power and influence. Their belief is that if there are enough of their people installed in key positions, the world will become more 'tolerant' and inclusive' like Castro District or Toronto. In other words, Sodom and Gomorrah.
