Maid forced into sex romp

GEORGE TOWN: An Indonesian maid has claimed that she was abused by a couple and forced into a threesome sex romp with them. Her four-month ordeal ended when the couple felt they had had enough of her and chucked her by a roadside at Taman Cenderawasih in Nibong Tebal last Sunday, with RM30 to fend for herself.

She wandered around aimlessly for 12 hours before a good Samaritan took her to a police station in town the following day. George Town OCPD Asst Comm Gan Kong Meng said the victim, who looked traumatised and skinny, had burn and scald marks on her back and chest.

She is being treated at the Penang Hospital for multiple bruises. A medical inspection showed there were tears in her private parts, ACP Gan said at a press conference at the Patani Road police station here yesterday. The 26-year-old maid from East Java claimed she was raped several times by her employer, a grass-cutting contractor, while his wife would beat her up if she did not give in to her husband’s sexual demands.

ACP Gan said the victim claimed the couple, aged 41 and 36, used a belt to hit her on the head, hands and legs. She also alleged that she was splashed with hot water and had her chest burnt with an iron. The maid said she started working for the couple in February at their apartment in Jelutong here but the abuses only began in May.

ACP Gan said police arrested the couple at 9.15pm on Friday after five days of trying to locate their apartment as the victim was not familiar with the area. “We had to take many pictures of apartments in Jelutong to show her. Once the apartment was identified, we asked around the neighbourhood before the suspects were nabbed,” he said.

The Indonesian consulate here has been informed of the case. ACP Gan said the husband had three previous convictions for drug and criminal offences. Police also seized a car belonging to the man as well as an iron, a belt, a comforter and a bedsheet from the apartment. The couple has four children aged five to 15.

GEORGE TOWN: The police are investigating whether the Indonesian maid who was allegedly assaulted and forced by a couple into a threesome sex romp is a victim of human trafficking. Penang police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Wira Ayub Yaakob, who spoke to the victim at the Penang Hospital yesterday, told reporters: “We are checking whether the couple followed immigration procedures when they employed the maid.”

Present during his visit was Indonesian Consul-General Chilman Arisman. DCP Ayub said the victim was recuperating well from her injuries. The maid from East Java was found wandering aimlessly around a housing estate in Nibong Tebal last Sunday by a good Samaritan, who took her to a police station to file a report against her 41-year-old employer and his 36-year-old wife.

The maid claimed that she was raped several times by the employer, a grass–cutting contractor, while his wife would beat her up if she did not give in to her husband’s sexual demands. The victim claimed the couple used a belt to hit her on the head, hands and legs. The victim also claimed that she was splashed with hot water and had her chest burnt with an iron.

The couple, who have four children aged five to 15, were arrested on Friday and had been remanded till tomorrow. The husband reportedly has three previous convictions for drugs and criminal offences. Newsmen who checked the couple’s apartment in Jelutong were unable to meet anyone. When the door bell was rung, they heard voices of children and the sound of a dog barking inside.

The contractor’s father told a Chinese daily that the maid was often seen talking to herself. His sister also told the daily that the maid went missing five days ago and the family thought she had run away. Meanwhile, neighbours of the couple claim to be surprised over the maid’s allegations. A neighbour said she could not believe the couple had committed “cruel things.”

“They are nice and friendly people. They would even cook food to be distributed to the beggars outside temples at times. “I have also seen the wife cleaning the corridor with the maid several times,” she said. She said she had never heard screams coming from the couple’s house. A neighbour who lives opposite the couple, said she was shocked to read about the allegations.

Police pick up third suspect over maid abuse

GEORGE TOWN: Police have arrested a third suspect in connection with the case of an Indonesian maid who was allegedly assaulted and forced into a threesome sex romp with the couple who employed her. The woman, a 39-year-old clerk who worked for a maid agency, was picked up from her office in York Road here yesterday. She will be remanded until Thursday to facilitate investigations.

Meanwhile, a remand order on the couple – a 41-year-old contractor and his 36-year-old wife – which ended yesterday has been extended till Friday. It was earlier reported that the maid from East Java was found wandering aimlessly in a housing estate in Nibong Tebal on Sept 13 by a good Samaritan, who took her to a police station to file a report.

The couple had allegedly left her by the road in Taman Cenderawasih a day earlier with RM30 to fend for herself.
