By Lynda Hong, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 22 April 2009 0216 hrs
SINGAPORE : National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan will be on a three-day visit to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from April 22.

During his visit, he will deliver a keynote address at the 19th Asia Society Corporate Conference, organised by the New York-based Asia Society.

The event is an annual gathering of top government leaders, key decision makers and industry experts from the international business community.

This year, the conference will discuss the challenges facing Asian economies and cities in light of the economic crisis.

Mr Mah will share Singapore's urban development and management experience, and highlight how Singapore is addressing the challenges of rapid urbanisation and industrialisation, which many Asian cities are facing today.

While in Vietnam, Mr Mah will also meet Mr Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, as well as Mr Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

He will also tour new township developments and projects spearheaded by Singapore companies in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr Mah will be accompanied by officials from the National Development Ministry, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, and the Building and Construction Authority. - CNA /ls
