THE same 12 ministers from the PAP's existing central executive committee (CEC) were elected by secret ballot yesterday.
They are PM Lee; Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong; Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew; Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean; Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan; Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam; Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng; Minister (PM's Office) Lim Boon Heng; Minister (PM's Office) Lim Swee Say; Environment and Water Resources Minister Yaacob Ibrahim; Foreign Minister George Yeo; and Community Development, Youth and Sports Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.
More than 1,000 cadres made their choices from a list of 19 nominees. Of the seven not elected, the two with the highest number of votes will be co-opted into the CEC, making it a 14-member committee.
The two are National Development Minister Mah Bow Tan, and Senior Minister of State (Finance & Transport) Lim Hwee Hua.
At a later date, the CEC will co-opt another four to form an 18-member committee.
Going by past practice, the secretary-general will be the Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong. The CEC election is held every two years.

Labbish! He sacrificed for my sake, OK? *hee*hee*

What I found even more interesting from this news is that Dr Ng Eng Hen who some appear to say may be the next PM, was not in this list and had to be co-opted into the CEC in 2006 and most probably the same this time round. Strange and curious.

bro..MBT is the lousy one...

not u hor...

ur "i lousy fellow" shooting ur ownself leh...:p

Mah Bow Tan was defeated by Chiam See Tong in Potong Pasir 1984. He daren't go back again but went to Tampines GRC, which the NSP has contested in the past two GEs but lost. However, now and for the next GE, the NSP will have more thunderous firepower in it's electoral arsenal, i.e. Goh Meng Seng, may yet make history by inflicting the first GRC defeat on the PAP and knock out a full minister.

If that is the case, maybe they will replace Mah Bow Tan with a lightning-powered candidate?
