<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"-->A FOREIGN worker preparing to paint a Housing Board flat in Bukit Panjang died on Thursday morning after being hit by a piece of falling concrete.
The Indian national was preparing a gondola with two others on the ground floor of Block 248 Bangkit Road when the incident happened at about 9.30am.
A piece of concrete which broke off from a roof parapet of the 13-storey block fell 42m onto the worker, said a Ministry of Manpower spokesman.
The anchor point of the gondola was fixed at the roof parapet.
Mr Poorasamy Stalin, 27, who was wearing safety equipment including a helmet, was struck on the head by the falling object.
He suffered head injuries and was conscious when paramedics arrived, said a spokesman for the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
