Self-disciplined talent

I REFER to Mr Mah Bow Tan's recent sharing of his early childhood experience in "Mah's own upgrading story" on Saturday and to Mr Low Lee Siang's encouraging comments ("Mah's story is also Singapore's story", Monday). I also refer to Sunday's article, "The greedy, the sleazy and the ugly".
Many very highly capable individuals have reached the very top of their careers and fallen away.
But there are also many very highly capable individuals who have reached the very top of their careers and remained there.
The big difference between these two groups is that the second group consists of individuals who are very highly self-disciplined.
I am of the opinion Mr Mah belongs to the second group.

This is not the same "subsidies" we gets on the past which were based on certain percentage above cost of building a flat plus overheads!...and the word "subsidies" does takes on a very new meaning....

He is a flop.

The very fact that he failed in two sucessive GE against Chiam See Tong, who started off as a simple school teacher and lawyer, shows how much the people loathe him. But that again seems to look like the people are prejudiced against him.

After he entered Parliament and took on the role of MND Minister, implemented several obnoxious policies of trying to beautify HDB princincts so that "your property" rise in value, as if we can sell and make good money and then live on the parks, plus other policies that now has the HDB 99-years rental flats prices skyrocketed. It just goes to prove that he does not have the calibre. Sorry about that.

If we were to look at Goh Keng Swee and the previous MND Minister (one who killed himself because he was corrupted), at least they took the resident's interests into mind.

So, the conclusion is to look at the quality and not the dressing before you come to a suitable opinion.

Except for a good leader other people of any kind, should not really stay on for too long. I would have left too in 1998 but because of the problems created by a rat-faced firebrand cum religious fundamentalist I had to stay behind.
