Yesterday (6 April), a Facebook page known as 雪州网 MySelangor shared the news of a girl who went missing a couple of days back. The girl, Chia Min Yong, who is only 22-years-old could not be contacted after meeting a client on Tuesday (5 April) and at the time of writing, her whereabouts are still unknown.

Prior to her disappearance, Min Yong, who is from Setapak and works as an insurance broker texted her mother and her boyfriend and revealed that her job has been tough in recent months. In fact, the money that she has been spending on the family recently was borrowed from someone unspecified.

She told her mother that she will be in Johor Bahru for a few days to look for a new job and reminded her mother to not contact her as she has packed her items, including her passport.

“I’m a grown up, please be like dad and give me my freedom. I found a better job with a higher pay and I will let you know once I have settled down,” Min Yong said.

She also apologised to her mother for leaving the house out of a sudden and assured her that she will take good care of herself.

“I know if I were to call you, you would’ve scolded me. I’ll shut my phone off for now and I’ll talk to you soon. I love you, mommy.”

Min Yong’s boyfriend, who was interviewed by China Press revealed that her disappearance was shocking as she had not acted differently before she was unreachable. It is also revealed that Min Yong has not received her paycheck for the last 2 months which has caused her immense pressure.

“She would’ve talked to her family about her problems regardless how tough it was for her.”

He also said that they decided to lodge a police report after her boyfriend managed to detect her location through an application after Min Yong had stayed idle for about 5 hours. However, the police could not find any records of her leaving the country. As of 12 am yesterday (6 April), the police managed to spot her car somewhere in Setapak.

CCTV recordings have shown that a girl, suspected to be Min Yong had checked in at a hotel nearby. Her identity, however, could not be confirmed as the girl in the CCTV recording was wearing a mask.

If you have any information regarding this matter, do reach out to the police or the family at 0163501393 (Lucas) or 0126388570 (Minnie).

It has been the fourth day since the disappearance of 22-year-old female insurance broker Chia Min Yong, and there is still no news.

Her family discovered that she had taken away her passport, and they are worried as there have been many cases of young men and women deceived into working abroad.

In an interview with China Press, Chia’s family said that her mother has always kept her passport.

On the day we last saw her on 5 April, she went out as if she usually went out to meet customers, and there was nothing unusual. After she disappeared, we found that she did not take other items, including luggage and the clothes she usually wears.
A family member recalling the last moments with Chia.

Her family added that she has not quit her current job as an insurance agent.
Furthermore, her usual things are still at home, so her family did not expect her to leave home.

The family said Chia would’ve talked to her family about her problems regardless of how tough it was for her.

The case was highlighted on the 雪州网 MySelangor Facebook page.

The posting had gone viral with more than 12,000 shares as the public tried to help in searching for Chia.

In the beginning, the family placed their hopes on the information provided by the public.

Unfortunately, after the news of Chia’s disappearance was published in various newspapers and circulated on various social media sites, the family received some prank calls.

As more and more similar calls were received, it still led to nowhere, and the family felt helpless.

Therefore, the family hopes that people with reliable information about Chia can contact them directly or the police.

Not Giving Up

The family had also asked friends to help find the whereabouts of Chia in various places.

They could only hope that Chia was still in the country and would contact her family as soon as possible.

Chia was declared missing after sending the last message to her family at 7pm on 5 April.

I’m a grown up, please be like dad and give me my freedom. I found a better job with a higher pay and I will let you know once I have settled down.
Chia informing her family that she is looking for job in her last contact with them.
In her message, Chia apologised to her mother for suddenly leaving and promised to take good care of herself while she look for a job in Johor Bahru.

I know if I were to call you, you would’ve scolded me. I’ll shut my phone off for now and talk to you soon. I love you, mommy.
Chia explaining herself in her last contact with the family.
Chia, from Setapak, had told her family and boyfriend that she is not doing well financially of late as she had not received her salary for the last 2 months.

Accordingly, she had also borrowed money to spend on the family.

The public had since found her car on Jalan Usahawan, but her whereabouts remained unknown.

Anyone with information of Chia’s whereabouts is asked to call 0163501393 (Lucas), 0126388570 (Minnie) or the nearest police station.

Looks like the text messages were made up by the person who "got" her.

Car abandoned. Looks bad. Maybe in drum filled with cement.

She might be in Singapore working in some happy ending massage spas.

Sounds like some human trafficking syndicate spotted her vulnerability and had taken her.
