SINGAPORE — The Land Transport Authority (LTA) caught two e-scooter riders riding on footpaths on Wednesday (1 January), the day on which zero-tolerance enforcement actions against errant riders began.

In a post on its Facebook page, LTA said it stationed enforcement officers in areas such as Ang Mo Kio, Punggol, Sengkang, Sembawang and Yishun on Wednesday to catch e-scooter riders flouting the law, which was enacted on 5 November last year following a series of e-scooter-related accidents.

Up until Tuesday, errant riders were issued warnings by the authorities. From Wednesday, they can be fined up to $2,000 and/or jailed up to three months.

“E-scooter users can continue to ride their devices on cycling paths and PCNs (Park Connector Networks). We are ramping up such infrastructure islandwide to better support active mobility,” LTA said in the Facebook post, which was hash-tagged #NoMoreWarnings.

Meanwhile, The Straits Times reported that food delivery company Deliveroo has stopped assigning food delivery orders to riders on personal mobility devices (PMDs).

A Deliveroo spokesperson said that any existing PMD rider who has not switched vehicles, or applied for LTA’s e-scooter trade-in grant by the 31 December deadline, will not be able to continue working for the company until they confirm that they would like to switch vehicles.

Yet another super example to show that there is ZERO willpower to execute their own ideas.
They managed to get TWO (!!!) for what they termed "ZERO TOLERANCE"? WTF.
While waiting for my cab at a taxi stand, no fewer than five guys were zooming past me.
LTA are just a bunch of clowns.

How cums The Punisher never used Wong Fei Hong's

They are just going through the motion. First they allowed all and sundry products to get one the
road. Then they say, must conform to certain standards. And after money was spent by owners to the
new regulations, they banned them OVERNIGHT nonetheless. Then they issue (by the thousands) of
warnings which had no legal basis.
But suddenly, come D-day, only TWO people were caught flouting the law. Even CNA reported sighting
more cases than that.

I trust LTA to do a good job, so I am patient and observing their performance. They know everyone hates PMDs, so pleasing and protecting the public is important since elections are around the corner.

Wow, censoring the officers' faces to protect them from a certain retribution.

All you need is ONE instance of a LTA officer being assaulted, and you will have a new law
to ban taking pictures of police and any govt officers taking down your particulars.

Tensions will intensify until one officer does something really stupid... and then all hell breaks loose.

People should watch the V for Vendetta movie.
