It is early days but the groundswell of support for GY for president is pre-matured and is no more than empathy for the born loser.

His failures are 'forgotten' but really, with the PAP now forming the government after this mini 'freak' election, time for a real elected president and not some token president who was selected for his past contributions.

If the population wants real accountability, a non-establishment elected president is what we really need. Time to bring back some credibility and respect to the EP.

Personally I think it's more important to have a Opposition President then an Opposition presence in Parliament. Most pple will already tell you that the opposition will make little inroads into Parliament. The fact that they won 6 seats isn't anything to shout about, PAP was already going to give them 9 NCMP seats anyway. 6 voting seats means nothing since they will still be blanket party by the PAP in Parliament.

Why Opposition President is more important? It will answer the long standing question IS OUT MONEY STILL THERE!!!!!!

To those who have expressed such glowing respect for GY, take note.

When GY was Arts Minister, political films were banned, funding for forum theatre and performance art was stopped, and artists and civil activists were told to stay off politics.

As Foreign Minister, he struck deals with the opium growing Burmese junta while justifying to the world why we should hang drug mules.

GY made his bed and should learn to sleep in it.
