To me, this year’s Budget is a progressive one that prepares our workers for the future as we emerge from the pandemic; and at the same time, help our workers cope with current challenges especially on cost of living. What strikes me most is that this year's Budget, with the plethora of macro measures, puts “YOU” at the centre of it – Singaporeans, not just the current generation but future generations. Amidst all the complexities of the world and intricacies of policies, if we distil it down, it's building on the foundation of Singapore, charting our way forward together towards a sustainable, fairer and inclusive nation for Singaporeans.
At the The Straits Times-The Business Times Budget 2022 Roundtable, Finance Minister Lawrence Wong, Mr Suan Teck Kin from UOB, Prof Sumit Agarwal from National University of Singapore and I had a robust dialogue on this year's Budget.
