SEREMBAN: A 38-year-old lorry driver who is in the midst of getting a divorce from his wife has been detained for allegedly raping their older daughter for the past one year. This came about after the Form Two student told her teacher on Monday about the trauma that she had gone through.

She is believed to have been raped several times at her home in Temiang near here. “Her teacher then brought her to the Seremban 2 police station,” Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Yusoff Awang said. Yusoff said the girl apparently could not bear with the torture anymore and decided to reveal it after her father allegedly raped her at about 4am on Monday.

“The suspect was said to have gone to the girl’s room and dragged her back to his own room where he allegedly raped her,” he said. He said the Form Two girl lived there with her 11-year-old sister and their father. Their mother is believed to be in Johor Baru. It is understood that the suspect’s wife left him several months ago, leaving their daughters under his care.

Yusoff said preliminary investigations showed that the younger girl was not raped. She is now placed under the care of the Welfare Department. “The victim has been sent to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital and we hope to record her statement soon,” he said. The suspect has been remanded for five days.
