Loan shark runner caught

A 44-YEAR-OLD man suspected to be involved in loansharking activities was arrested on Tuesday with the help of vigilant members of the public. The suspect was observed to be behaving suspiciously at an HDB block at Yishun Ring Road, and members of public detained him after he tried to flee when they approached him. Officers received a call at about 3.30pm on Dec 1 alerting them to the detention of a suspected loan shark runner and took custody of him upon arrival. A search conducted on him uncovered debtors' records and marker pens in the vehicle he was driving. Preliminary investigations revealed that he was a debtor-turned-runner who had carried out several harassment acts on debtors' units. The suspect will be charged in Court on Dec 3 for the offence of loanshark harassment under the Moneylender's Act 2008
