That's a valid concern. Even if the chat has been published, it's possible that the conversation was staged or manipulated to create a specific narrative. This could be done by one or more individuals involved in the conversation to mislead the public or to create a certain image.
Or by the writer herself to boost her public image.

Definitely the chat was not staged because can't you see that those buffoons have been fighting hard to deny liabilities and doing serious damage control. Why would they want to sabotage not just 1 person, but all of themselves in the chat group? This is very serious as it involves National Security. It doesn't make sense. At the same time, none of them had even suggested or warned that such matters should not be conversed in a public Chat App, which makes them all the more vulnerable.

And if you say the published conversation is manipulated, those buffoons would have counter-attacked by publishing their own version of the chat to vindicate themselves.
