INTRODUCTION
Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health HSIJB established and started operations on January 1, 2008. Psychiatric services is an important clinical service and needs to be established at each hospital. This is equivalent to a policy of ‘Decentralisation’ psychiatric treatment and also the process of integration with primary services. This is also the policy of the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
Total population in the district is in the estimated 1 million, and there are estimates that are settled in the eastern part of Johor Bahru City. At this time the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health Hospital Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, beginning in the year 2008. The number of patients who suffer from mental health problems each year, where in 2008 a total of 1.898 persons, 2009 of 2.627 persons, 2010 of 1.765 people and in 2011 a total of 2.205 people.
Staffing the clinic are as follows; is led by a Head of Department, a Medical Officer UD54, UD 44 3 Medical Officer, an officer of Psychology (Counselling) S44, an Assistant Medical Officer U29, 4 Staff Nurse U29, U12 Health Nursing Assistant 1,
The main service Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health are provided Psikogeriatrik Clinic psychiatrist and include community (Psikogeriatrik-Home Visit), Emergency Psychiatry, Liaison services and counseling and psychology services.
The Department also provides a Medical Officer on call for psychiatric cases in the emergency department and inpatient.

Purposes of establishing the Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health in Hospital Sultan Ismail include:

  1. Increase in number of outpatient psychiatric services are required.
  2. Reduce the negative public perception of psychiatric treatment because it provided hospital and polyclinic with other treatments.
  3. To assist psychiatric services that now exists in Hospital Permai and Aminah Hospital for people in the city of Johor Bahru, especially the east.
Objective
Among the objectives of this department is:

  1. Establish a secondary psychiatric services for the Johor Bahru Central and eastern part of the City, directly reducing admissions to psychiatric institutions.
  2. Provide psychiatric treatment is effective and efficient.
  3. Provide adequate facilities for the treatment of psychotherapy, occupational therapy, group therapy and social therapy through day-care centers and psychiatric wards.
  4. Provide facilities for the teaching, study and research.
  5. Provide counseling services

PETALING JAYA: Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, better known as the rapper Altimet, and Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari were among several prominent names who clinched victories in Selangor’s PKR division elections yesterday.


Syed Ahmad retained the Ampang division chief post after a three-way fight against Selangor assembly deputy speaker Kamri Kamaruddin and Azrul Azwar Ahmad Tajudin.


The Lembah Jaya assemblyman secured 1,926 votes, while Kamri (who is also Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman) received 1,637 while Azrul trailed with 236.

The results were announced this morning by the party’s election committee.
