Time is right for MOM to give employers especially foreign employers
1) clear directives that they must justify keeping foreign employees and making locals redundant.
2)Also the MOM should ask employers to provide adequate redundancy compensation.
Many mutinationals are hit at HQ levels in the US or UK - whilst the local Asian business entity is still doing well. what do they do?
They transfer those affected in the US or UK offices to the Asian cities instead of retrenching or making them redundant - so the local entity has to support them as well!
Then when push comes to shaft - the locals are given the exit at a later stage!
