Rewards a plenty. Nothing new. This system is often practised in 3rd world countries.
Suharto had been rewarding his top generals with land stolen from the citizens so that he has the military in his control.
When East Timor became independent the generals lost their ill gotten lands and took vengeance on the citizens by slaughtering them before they left.

It's a mystery to me what these people know about the airline industry.

There's no need for a general to know how to fly an aircraft, sail a ship or ddrive a tank all he needs to know is how to deploy the correct people to do it. Would you be very worried if you are charging up a hill fighting the enemies and you find your Chief of Defence force doing the same thing with you.

That's besides the point. YOu may not have to physically do everything that needs to be done in an airport but you need to be very familiar with the airport business- which is not the easiest industry to grasp. Are we being told that there's absolutely noone else more qualified for this very important job? Noone in Singapore or in the whole wide world?

If the top job at Changi is just about delegatiing, I am sure there are even many more others who can do the job.

i will even be more worried when Chief of Defence keep looking at his computer screen & pressing on the 'forward' button, thinking that in real life the NS men will charge forward no matter what..

On the contrary, that's the model the Israeli army has used, and it has worked very well for them. Obviously their CDF do not charge up the hill with them, but on record, their army has a problem stopping COLs and MAJs from charging into battle with their men.

The point is, it's always better to have a leader who knows the business and has been in the front lines, to run an organisation better.

Any info on how many ex Air Force generals are parked in the top hangar of Changi Airport's board of directors. Its good to be part of the establishment, brown nosing notwithstanding.
