（悉尼／香港综合讯）中国明代的一尊小佛像近日在澳大利亚西部海滩被发现，或可证明1421年明朝郑和宝船比欧洲人早逾200年抵澳洲，澳洲历史可能因而被改写。

据《悉尼先驱晨报》前天报道，上述小佛像被两名经营电影公司的西澳男子德尚（Leon Deschamps）和汤姆森（Shayne Thomson）寻获；他们当时正与法国纪录片制片人合作拍摄、重现拿破仑统治时期从法国航行至澳洲相关的影片。

近日在海岸边筹备拍摄之际，他们试用的金属探测器突然发出信号，表明离地面很近的地方有金属物品。

他们经挖掘，发现了该尊看似由镀金青铜制成的小佛像，尽管尺寸很小，但重量却超过一公斤。

两人之后相继就上述发现联络西澳洲海事博物馆和当地华人协会“中华”，并在后者的建议下联系澳驻华大使，大使办公室正就此展开进一步调查。

德尚说，他们咨询的专业古董商人“毫不犹豫地将佛像的年代定为明朝初期”。

这尊小佛像为何现身西澳？目前最吸引人的解释是，它或与1421年郑和率领的“明朝寻宝之旅”有关，并可能意味着在荷兰人哈托格（Dirk Hartog）1616年登陆澳洲西海岸的200年前，中国人就已到过该片土地。

中澳历史博物馆副主席马克·王（Mark Wang，译音）分析，明朝的物品在澳洲很罕见，“如果这尊佛像能被认定为是明代的，那将非常特别”。

他指出，小佛像可能在两种情况下抵澳，其一是被郑和航海所留下，不过，佛像也可能是在华人1870年代抵达该地区之际被带到那里。

德尚还引述另一种可能的说法，指佛像所在位置临近海岸，历史上曾有马来人和华人采珠者的采珠营地，佛像也可能由他们带来。

“香港01”昨天指出，来自广东的麦世英1818年在杰克森港（Port Jackson）下船，是有记载的最早一批来澳华人中的一员。
