Yesterday, I met a relative who is staying in Seng's ward. Unlike what 154th is spinning about Seng, he is indeed one arrogant idiot who always talk down to poor and elderly seeking his help at MPS. When the market opposite the CC was burned down, he was actually bochap until LHL came down. Then he gets into action and starts to wayang in front of LHL and the media, and promise to give cheaper rental for the temp market after the hawkers met with LHL to voice their concern. So those who credited it to Seng is wrong. My relative says that one of his neighbours, an elderly woman, who went to Seng to seek help over repossession of her flat, came back complaining that Seng refuses to help her. A month later, this old lady committed suicide. As to why the temple leaders are so supportive of Seng, it is the $ from govt projects.

Heard this over in CNY. Apparently, one of my relatives know about Seng Han Thong. He was a reporter/editor with Zaobao in the 80s/90s. He wrote many good stuff about PAP and hence, caught the attentions of old man. Old man wanted more Chinese speaking MPs in PAP and so invited him to PAP tea session. Rest is history.

So moral of the story seems to me is, as long as you are willing to abandon your own personal principle and por PAP's lumpar no matter how, you will be well treated. It's ticket to your million dollar bracket salaries....

Not surprising, heard from a grassroot friend almost the same negative comments abt SHT. He is definitely no saint and definitely offended more than his fare share of people. MP apparently has their own agenda rather then geniue help for the people.
