Largest seizure of heroin in 3 years

SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has made a record seizure of 8.5 kg of heroin estimated to be worth over S$1.27 million.

This is the largest single seizure of the drug since 2008.

In an operation that lasted over 12 hours on Wednesday, CNB caught two drug traffickers with about 3 kg of heroin in a car in Jurong West.

They found another 5.6 kg of the drug together with drug trafficking equipment such as a weighing scale and empty sachets at a HDB flat rented by one of the suspects in Woodlands.

The two Singaporean men, aged 34 and 28, are being investigated for drug trafficking.

If convicted, they face the death penalty.
