Veteran Singaporean actress Chen Liping has left Mediacorp after 40 years in the industry.



A new chapter​



In an Instagram post from Jan. 3, the 59-year-old actress shared that her decision to leave Mediacorp felt like both a "graduation and a new beginning".







Reflecting on her 40 years in the industry, she expressed gratitude for the memories and personal growth she experienced throughout her career.

Chen also emphasised her ongoing passion for acting, promising to continue dedicating herself to the craft.

She thanked both Singaporean TV audiences and her fans for their unwavering support, noting that without them, characters like "Miss Aiyoyo" and the iconic shows created would not have been possible.

She also expressed appreciation to Mediacorp for shaping her journey and hinted at the possibility of future collaborations.



Mediacorp's statement​



On Jan. 3, 2025, Mediacorp officially announced Chen’s departure via an Instagram post by The Celebrity Agency.







They praised her as an "integral part" of the Mediacorp family, acknowledging her status as a beloved and respected icon in Singapore's entertainment industry.

They also expressed their best wishes for her future endeavours and noted their openness to future collaborations if the right opportunities arise.



Since 1985​



Chen began her acting career in 1985 with the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation.

She is best known for portraying "Miss Aiyoyo" in "Good Morning, Sir!".
