Well was just reading that Greenwood expects the peg to survive despite the US action. Seen too many people try to attack the peg in the past and it ended badly. 30 years and holding despite all that HK has been through. They have the reserves and the peg existed long before any special trading status from the UK.

Now if Trump goes nuclear and cuts HK off from the US international clearing or Iranian style sanctions then...........errrrrrrrr

John Greenwood, the Invesco chief economist, regarded as the architect of the Hong Kong dollar peg, said the Linked Exchange Rate Mechanism will survive Sino-US tensions, a report said.
He believes it is the most suitable arrangement for Hong Kong.
