高雄市長韓國瑜27日晚間原本不打算參加「鳳山挺韓大會」，卻又出現在對街的重機車聚，巧合的是他參加完活動之後，路過挺韓大會意外現身，當時韓粉聲聲高喊選總統。韓國瑜後來在28日深夜在臉書粉專以「一片中華民國旗海飄揚的感觸」為題，寫下257字回應。
韓國瑜在PO文中提到，「親睹耳聞一片青天白日旗海飄揚的聲嘶力竭，我心潮澎湃也萬千震撼，我知道這數萬人頂著烈日、排著長龍，不是為了什麼造神追星，而是長久以來見識了太多政治鬼話，所以嘶吼著對於台灣未來的憂心、也揮舞著對於無恥無能玫客的厭棄。」
韓國瑜說，聽到了也看見了，所以懇請各位的鄉親父老兄弟姊妹們稍安勿躁，「再給我一點時間去平衡輕重，因為我局上的千斤萬擔，實在容不得分毫不平」，也請各位相信,無論接下來做出任何決定，都是希望見一個不計個人得失、力求重返執政的國民黨，也是為了一個「台灣安全、人民有錢」的穩定將來。

面對韓粉，韓國瑜慷慨激昂，儘管沒有說出要參選2020，但選總統這一步，依舊引發外界關注。然而，根據《東森新聞》掌握消息，最快在吳韓會後，韓國瑜就會宣佈參選。

不過，韓國瑜臉書在29日上午卻不見這則PO文，疑似刪除，再度引發網友討論。另外，馬英九基金會30日將舉辦「突破困境，迎接挑戰」重振台灣競爭力會議，韓國瑜將在當天下午與國民黨主席吳敦義會談結束後，將趕赴出席馬英九所主持的圓桌論壇。而據馬辦人士表示，鴻海董事長郭台銘得知消息後，也將排開行程參與圓桌論壇與韓同台。
