A shopping mall employee in central China injured four people in a knife attack and then jumped to his death Friday, leaving a fifth person injured by the jump, local police said.
The suspect, surnamed Hu, took a staff-only elevator and entered the fifth floor of a shopping mall in the Hanyang district of Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, Friday morning, before the mall opened to customers, the district public security bureau said in a statement.
The knife-wielding man injured four mall employees and then jumped to his death, injuring a fifth person on the ground, the bureau said.
The five injured have been sent to a hospital and none suffered life-threatening injuries.
An initial police investigation showed that the suspect was engaged in a leasing dispute with the shopping mall's operator on Thursday.
Further investigation is under way.
