The Germany forward believes his experience doesn't guarantee him a spot in the squad for Brazil, but remains confident in his nation's ability to win the tournament
Germany forward Miroslav Klose says he is not taking his place in Joachim Low's squad for next summer's World Cup for granted.
The veteran Lazio striker is his side's joint all-time top scorer and needs just one more to equal Ronaldo's best-ever tally of 14 goals at the tournament.
However, the 35-year-old is prepared to fight to show that he is worthy of a place on the plane to Brazil come June.
"I don't want any free rides," he told Welt am Sonntag.
"And the coach will also not give any player a free pass. You have to work everything for yourself like so many other things in life.
"I know I have to fight for the World Cup and it does not matter how many tournaments I've played."
Klose is delighted with the strength of his country's squad in every position ahead of the tournament and says he enjoys playing for the Nationalelf.
"We are realy well stocked in every position. This is a dream. When you see how much joy we have, that says a lot about us.
"Of course, the quality is there without question. And if we are in good form or have luck on our side, I'm optimistic."
